Just last month, San Francisco’s Eatery said it, Albany is becoming a hot spot for good dining. More and more Bay Area people visit this East Bay spot, to enjoy a good quality meal. It doesn’t matter if you are a food connoisseur, planning a dinner date, a family of five looking for a fun spot to eat, or just feel like indulging on superb ice cream. You can do all that and more here in Smalbany. Its tight-knit community and easy walkability have given it that nickname.
Here are my favorite places for different occasions:

Bring On The Kids:
Boss Burger: This all-American burger joint has a bit of a retro style and one or two old school games to entertain kiddos while you wait on your order. The menu is organic, everything is sourced locally, even the fountain soda. Kids and adults love it.
iSlice: offers New York style pizza by the slice. Very family friendly and casual.
Bowl’d Korean Rice Bar: lets you build your own tasty rice bowls. So fresh, tasteful. It’s also famous and treasured by parents for its kid-friendly and healthy bento boxes.
Little Star Pizza: offers organic, seasonally flavored thin-crust, or deep-dish pizza variations, and salads. It also features a bar, with a modern vibe. Family-friendly but also trendy.

Ready to Impress:
Juanita and Maude: refined comfort food and craft cocktails define this cozy yet trendy spot. The food is superb. You do need reservations to get in.
Cafe Raj: very popular casual North Indian eatery with fresh, vegan and vegetarian-friendly options. An Albany staple that has been attracting many out of towners for years.
Zaytoon Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar: is a swank spot for drinks and tapas-style dishes. Mainly Mediterranean flavors. Great feel.
Wildcard Brewing Company: a new spot for a locally crafted pour.
Oceanview Brewery: artisan beers and changing food options brought in and cooked by chefs on the spot. Very family-friendly, with outside games like the supersized four-in-a-row and chess.

Oh, That Sweet Tooth:
Mr. Dewie’s: offers creamy cashew based, dairy and gluten-free, ice cream. Their traditional but also more adventurous flavors like turmeric ice cream will captivate you. All natural and delicious.
Eat your way through Albany, you won’t regret it.
